PEACE Quote # 2

Today I am posting another quote out of the booklet that I got from my purchase of the Brighton bracelet.

Peace is not simply the absence of war or violence, peace is a conscious choice. If we chose to forgive and act with love, then we have chosen to live in peace.

That is beautiful.... I still can not figure out what it is.... give me a few weeks or months or years.... maybe then my soul will know the meaning.

Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold.

It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience.

It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country.

Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free.

Dalai Lama

This pretty well sums up what peace means to me. I don't search for something so esoteric that it cannot be achieved, not in my being, not in my mind, not in my world. But if I can help make the world a better place, if I can end suffering by ending war, slowing global climate change or ending corruption, even at a small level, then I have done something toward that goal.

Life was never meant to be peaceful. It was meant to be lived.
